Scanning is like making a copy with a copier with some important differences. Instead of printing the copy on a piece of paper, it allows the images to be electronically saved for use on your computer. Images can be enlarged, reduced and edited.

Almost anything can be scanned - Photographs, Drawings, Clipart, (etc.), without any loss of visual quality. This can be done from loose paper, magazines, or photographs. Any source that can be laid flat is possible for scanning. These files can be saved in many formats for use on your computer (bmp's, gif's, tiff's, cpt's among others).
