The Barrington Brewery and Restaurant opened in May 1995. Coincidentally,
it was 100 years prior, to the month, that there had been a commercial brewery
in Great Barrington. According to a "Berkshire Courier" news item dated May 2,
1895, a Mr. Pruyn, who owned a bottling company on Main Street paid $1400
for a Federal Brewers License. Mr. Pruyn bottled hard cider and a local beer
until his death in 1904.
Today, our brewer, Andrew Mankin, operates a seven barrel brewery in one
of our barns. Therefore, our beer is known far and wide as "Barn-Brewed™."
Our kitchen, which takes great pride in its baking from scratch specialties - ale
bread and delicious desserts, is open daily from 11:30am til 10pm.
