Advocates For Animals
Each year across the United States, nearly 30,000 young, healthy greyhounds bred for the "sport" of dog racing are killed in the U.S..  Contrary to racing industry propaganda, most unwanted greyhounds are not adopted.  This gentle, ancient breed of dog is literally the waste product of a form of gambling that masquerades as a harmless entertainment sport.  A litany of documented cases shows that several thousand greyhounds have been subjected to abuse or died inhumanely in the last five years.  Massachusetts revenues from greyhound racing are only a fraction of one percent of total revenues.
